Today’s New York Times cites a study conducted by the Institute for Policy Studies on taxes and compensation. We have reviewed the study and find it to be grossly inaccurate.

To set the record straight: eBay paid $646 million in taxes in 2010 globally, the vast majority in the U.S.

eBay Puts New Facility in Draper, UT
eBay is investing $110 million in an expansion of its operations in Draper, UT. The project, which will receive a $38.2-million tax credit from the state, will create 2,200 jobs. The facility will complement the company’s existing facilities in Draper and its state-of-the-art data center in South Jordan. Currently, eBay employs about 1,400 in those two places. [via Newsday]

Gold Booming on eBay
For gold sellers on eBay, the recent stock market turmoil has been a boom for business. Gold and silver sales on eBay had already been rising steadily over the past several years – so much so that eBay Inc. created a special area in May to make it easier for buyers to find sellers. Just last month eBay Ink posted an infographic that takes a close look at buying and selling trends of Gold and Silver on eBay. [via Newsday]

eBay Plans to Open Online Fashion Outlet
eBay Inc. plans to launch eBay Fashion Outlet in the United States next month. eBay Fashion Outlet is an Online DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) where the customer has access to everyday deals on products. The service, which is currently available to consumers in Germany and in the U.K., will launch on September 19 with prices promoted as being 20 to 60 percent off retail. Most of the goods will be targeted to women between the ages of 25 and 44. [via Internet Retailer]
