Campout Helps Connect Interns to the Company – and Each Other

Though eBay Inc. has grown far beyond its auction roots to the cutting edge of shopping and payments, one thing hasn’t changed: Our success will always be tied to how we bring people together. Talented people come here because they believe in our purpose and want to make great things happen. Nowhere has that been more evident than among our 2014 interns, who recently connected at a weekend campout on the PayPal campus soccer field.

eBay Inc.’s University Programs (UP) team organized the event for interns based in the San Francisco Bay Area to help them build stronger relationships that will help them during their summer here and in their future careers. The networking wasn’t all business, though. As part of the bonding experience, interns got to zip line in the parking lot.

Campers also had the option of getting temporary tattoos from two henna artists.

During the campout, interns kept up their strength for wrestling in padded sumo suits with sustenance from three food trucks and a s’mores lounge.

Once night fell, Brian Owens, eBay Inc.’s vice president of global brand strategy, served as the DJ for an impromptu intern dance party.

After hanging out and bonding late into the night, interns took to their tents and sleeping bags.
