eBay Inc. Named One of Ireland’s Top Places to Work

eBay Inc. recently made its second appearance in two years on the Great Place to Work Institute’s 2014 list of Ireland’s top employers. eBay rose six places from its 2013 spot to rank ninth this year and joined companies like Microsoft and Pepsico in the top 10 large organizations category (a large company defined as one having over 300 employees). In addition, Louise Phelan — PayPal’s vice president of operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa — was named Ireland’s most trusted leader at the institute’s awards ceremony in Dublin on Feb. 26.

The institute focuses on employee perceptions of an institution rather than its reputation with outsiders, and two-thirds of the assessment is based on employees’ confidential and anonymous feedback. Employees were asked to agree or disagree with a range of statements that included: “Management has a clear view of where it’s going and how to get there” and “I feel I make a difference here.”

The recognition in Ireland follows similar honors for eBay as a top workplace in both China and Germany as well as the company’s appearance — at No. 44 — on Fortune magazine’s 2014 list of the Most Admired Companies.
