eBay continues to arrive early with innovative mobile apps on the platforms that matter. This week marked the arrival of key, free  updates to the company’s core iPhone mobile app and to the Fashion app.  Android apps have also been updated and are available on Google Play.

With the new updates, eBay is continuing to enhance its mobile selling and shopping experience for consumers anytime, anywhere and on any device.  The updated apps provide several types of new selling and buying experiences.

Here are details on some of the new experiences in the apps:

* eBay iPhone 3.4: With eBay iPhone 3.4 sellers can now select and donate to their favorite charities when listing items for sale.  In addition, the app features improved performance, interface enhancements – including larger photos, new home screen notifications, search improvements, a redesigned cart experience, and support for in-store pick-up, and same-day and scheduled delivery (in select markets).

* eBay Fashion: Experience eBay Fashion in a new, bigger and better way on your HDTV with Apple TV AirPlay. You can also now use your iOS device as a trackpad to browse through and shop eBay Designer Collective via the new Apple AirPlay enabled eBay Fashion app.

“At eBay, we’re continuing to focus on improving our user experience and connect shoppers to they things they want and love,” said David Cheng, director of mobile product at eBay. “With our new core updates and our Fashion app, we’re helping inspire our shoppers by creating an enhanced shopping experience across multiple platforms.”

“Additionally, by bringing eBay Giving Works into our mobile apps, we’re making it even easier to sell for your favorite charity and inspire our users to take action,” Cheng added.

Mobile continues to dramatically influence consumer behavior. For instance, 59 percent of eBay buyers shopped across multiple screens in the second quarter of this year.

eBay’s total mobile volume grew 68 percent in the second quarter, and we’ve hit 260 million downloads of our apps.
