Queensland resident Paul Rammers has a very special car for sale and it’s only available via eBay.

Rammers is selling a hand-built Holden Monaro HRT 427, a concept car born out of a collaboration between Holden and HSV.

The supercar, which features a 7-litre V8 racing engine that’s based on the Le Mans-winning C5R Corvette, is only one of two ever produced. The other is permanently housed in the Holden Museum in Melbourne — so driving it is off-limits.

Rammers listed the vehicle for sale on ebay.com.au in order to expose this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to a global audience of potential buyers. He will not sell for less than $1 million.

Potential buyers can place a bid or buy it now. The bidding period ends on 28 March 28, 2013 just before 7 p.m. AEST — so we’re only eight days away from knowing if the Holden Monaro HRT 427 will be one of the cars that is sold every 6 minutes on ebay.com.au.

Start your engines. eBay Motors is giving auto fans the opportunity to choose which four brand new, 2013 luxury vehicles will be featured in an upcoming sale – a first for eBay Motors. From March 8 – 11, fans can visit the eBay Motors Blog to vote in a head-to-head competition, pitting two luxury vehicles against one another each day. Voters will have the chance to choose from vehicles including a BMW 328i, Range Rover LR2, Jaguar XF and a Volvo S60.

Following the voting phase, each day from March 14-17, Patrick Dealer Group will list one of the four vehicles selected by the users for sale on eBay Motors at www.ebay.com/newcarsale. Also, the price of each vehicle included in the sale will drop by $500 every hour until the car is sold. All cars purchased will ship for free within the continental U.S. courtesy of uShip.

Project: 1968 Chevy G20 Van            
Team: Mackey’s Hot Rods       
Located in Huntington Beach, CA – a haven of hot rod culture – Mackey’s Hot Rods will take on a 1968 Chevy G20 Van. The auction will benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, which aligns with Mackey’s plans to model the van after an aircraft carrier.

Project: 1966 Chevy El Camino
Team: Duran’s Quality Painting    
Duran’s Quality Painting and owner Rico Duran have painted some of the most pristine lowriders in the world for the likes of David Beckham and several NFL players. Employing nearly a dozen family members, Rico will have plenty of help, which is a good thing: The 1966 El Camino he’s building won’t be in working order when it rolls into the shop. Auction proceeds will benefit the SEMA Scholarship Fund.

Project: 1984 Porsche 911
Team: GSR Autosport    
As the only duo in the series, Michael Essa and Nick Richards are the co-owners of GSR Autosport. GSR specializes in European cars, which staffers also race professionally. This garage’s challenge is to stretch dollars. The purchase prices of the Porsche and its parts that team members will work with are much much higher than components for the other garages’ projects. Auction proceeds will benefit SEMA Cares.

Project: 1970 Jeep Grand Cherokee Commando          
Team: Off Road Evolution      
Tasked with building a 1970 Jeep Grand Cherokee Commando, Mel Wade and his team at Off Road Evolution know how to go big. They’ve got the biggest shop and they specialize in the biggest 4×4 vehicles. Their plans for the Jeep include ensuring that it tops off at 100mph, on the road and in the desert. The vehicle will be auctioned to benefit the California Trail Users Coalition.

What sets this sale apart is that the price of each vehicle drops significantly every hour until someone decides to click the “Buy It Now” button. Shoppers need to decide whether to purchase at the current price or wait for another price drop and risk losing a great deal to another eBay Motors shopper.

Now, there is some very interesting data in on how this promotion has been going, after it began on June 28.

Here are some of the factoids that have arrived thus far:

• - A total of 53 cars have sold since Thursday, June 28
• - Consumers have saved a total of $381, 500 off of MSRP for the cars
• - Average savings per car is $7,200
• - Largest amount saved: A 2012 Ford F-150 and a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu both had prices drop every hour for 21 hours before each was purchased at a savings of $10,500 off of MSRP
